FORT WORTH, Texas. (Nov. 6, 2016) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, recorded a 30th-place finish in the rain-shortened NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday evening.

“We fought all race long,” said Bayne after the race. “Our AdvoCare Ford just struggled to find the right handling all night which made it really tough out there. We’ll regroup from this and get after it in the last two races of the season and end this year on a strong note.”

Bayne took the green flag for the originally scheduled 334-Lap event from the 26th position on Sunday evening after rain delayed the start of the race by over five hours. After running five laps under the green-yellow condition the race officially began on Lap 6. In the early stages, Bayne reported to crew chief Matt Puccia that the AdvoCare Ford was loose on the exit of the corner. As a result, Puccia decided to utilize a competition caution on Lap 28 to bring Bayne to pit road for four tires and a chassis adjustment.

The Knoxville, Tenn. native continued to battle the loose-handling condition when the race went back to green and persisted throughout much of the middle portion of the event. Then, Bayne sustained damage to the nose of the AdvoCare Ford while trying to avoid a multi-car incident on the frontstretch on Lap 262. This damage forced Bayne to make several trips to pit road during the ensuing caution period for repairs.

After returning to the track in 32nd following the repairs Bayne improved two positions to 30th before the caution came out for the final time for rain on Lap 289.

NASCAR deemed that the track surface was too wet to continue and made the call to end the race shy of its scheduled distance. Bayne was scored with a 30th-place finish.

Next up for the NSCS in Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, Nov. 13.
