ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Texas

Ryan Reed will make his sixth NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.  In his five previous starts at the 1.5-mile track, Reed’s best finish of 14th came earlier this season.  In this event last season, Reed started 17th and finished 15th.

The Chase

The NASCAR XFINITY Series returns to action this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway after two weeks off.  Reed enters this weekend’s race sixth on the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase, just two points out of fourth place.  The final cutoff before the Championship round will occur after next weekend’s race at Phoenix International Raceway as four drivers compete for the Championship at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

American Diabetes Month…

November 1st officially kicks off American Diabetes Month and the American Diabetes Association’s 2016 campaign, This Is DiabetesTM.

This year’s campaign captures the authenticity of people who understand diabetes best, by inviting them to share a glimpse of their lives on social media using #ThisIsDiabetes.

Roush Fenway Racing and Reed will support the cause in a variety of ways.  Reed and all Roush Fenway Fords will carry a special C-Post decal all month long, highlighting that November is American Diabetes Month.

In addition, Reed’s No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang will sport a special design this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway and at Homestead-Miami Speedway in three weeks.  The deck lid will carry “This is the fast lane. #ThisIsDiabetes,” bringing the campaign theme to life through Reed’s personal perspective.

Riding with Ryan

Drive to Stop DiabetesSM representative Kenny Talley will “ride” along with Reed during Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Texas Motor Speedway.  Talley will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16.

Like Reed, Talley has diabetes and knows the importance of staying healthy to manage the disease.  By working with his doctor, eating healthy and exercising, Talley is able to live well with diabetes and is an inspiration for others affected by it.

Talley is a part of the Dallas Fort Worth Community Leadership Board and will be the chairman in 2017.  Through his current role on the board, Talley works to inform people about diabetes and its impacts.  In addition, Talley has led his company’s participation in Step Out Walk to Stop Diabetes®, one of the American Diabetes Association’s signature fundraising events.

Kansas Recap

Despite having a mechanical issue early on in the Kansas Lottery 300, Reed drove his No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford to a 16th-place finish at Kansas Speedway.

Talladega Recap

In his Sprint Cup debut, Reed brought his No. 99 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Fusion home in 26th-place at Talladega Superspeedway. In a race where survival is often key, Reed’s car finished the race without a scratch to be seen, as the young driver drove a mistake-free race, exercising the patience of a veteran during the course of the 188-lap event that often included three and four-wide racing.

Roush Fenway, Reed Ink Multi-Year Renewal with Lilly Diabetes

Roush Fenway Racing has signed a multi-year renewal agreement for driver Ryan Reed to continue to pilot the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Reed, who five years ago was told he would never race again after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, qualified for the 2016 inaugural XFINITY Series Chase and scored his first victory in the series last season at Daytona.

2016 Season

Reed ranks sixth on the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase Grid after 30 races. He has recorded one top-five and six top-10 finishes, led eight laps for the season and has recorded an average finish of 16.

Reed on Texas

“After two weeks off from XFINITY racing, I’m ready to get back to work at Texas Motor Speedway,” said Reed.  “We ran well there earlier this year, and I think we can do even better this time in our Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford.  We have a little bit of ground to gain this weekend to try and put ourselves in good position for next weekend’s cutoff race.

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Texas on Saturday, November 5 at 3:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
